We had an interesting question this past week about what color dial to choose on your watch. Is there a specific color you should go for during different times of the day or with different types of clothes?

Check out the following Rolex Daytona Watches to see a visual difference between the two dial colors:

The truth of the matter is that there are no specific fashion rules on which color dial to wear. A Rolex in itself is an attention grabber – regardless of the color of it’s dial.

In general, though, we tend to like contrast. The color of the dial you wear (if you happened to own two watches with two different dial colors) can be decided based on what you’re wearing. For example, if you were wearing very light colored clothing, then a black dial would provide some nice contrast and would stand out. Similarly, if you were wearing a dark tuxedo, the white dial would also stand out.

At the end of the day, though, you could really wear either dial color – it does just come down to preference.

Most people in society (including SuitUpp guys) write with their right hands. In order to keep one’s wrist-watch out of the way, it has become a custom for the watch to be worn on the left wrist. As a result of this norm, you’ll notice that the dial to configure the watch above is also on the right side (making it easy to use with your right hand – only when you wear the watch on your left wrist).

If you’re left handed, then you’ll have a legitimate excuse for wearing the watch on your right wrist – however, it will still look weird. I happen to be left handed myself but still wear my watch on my left hand. When it comes to writing, I simply take off my watch to keep it out of harm’s way. This, of course, isn’t the most ideal solution – but, it works. The good news, though, is that there are some left handed watches out there. Check out the watch below and note how the dial is on the left side (provisioning the wearing of this watch on one’s right wrist):

Can you wear a digital watch with a Suit? If so, in what occasion can you wear such a watch?

Watches are definitely an accessory that men ponder about all the time (we do at SuitUpp). When it comes to a suit, we all know that a Rolex can match quite well. If you don’t want to invest too much in the watch though, can you skip the analog and move to digital?

If you are looking for a general rule to use when choosing your watch, analog is more formal and digital is less formal. To take that a step further on the analog side, you could also say that the more formal the occasion, the thinner the watch. If you wanted to get really formal, of course, you could invest in a pocket watch. If you’re wondering about the pocket watch and how to wear it, you should read our blog post on this. With that said, there is still room for the digital watch. If you’re going for a night on the town or are just touting a jacket during the day, an eye-catching sight like the Casio G-Shock can do the trick. Remember, fashion is all about making a statement & sometimes going against convention can be a good thing! Just don’t wear the Casio at a wedding
